Many years have passed since the days of the Eight, the elite guards of the king. Edgar, once their captain, had a good life, but now saw his coming retirement with peace. His sword would always be there to remind him of his younger days, his loyalty to the crown and the devotion he put in its protection. His only regret was that he was not able to protect the king himself anymore, his arm was too weak after so many years to brandish his noble blade.
The king knew he owed his life to this man, so he payed tribute to his long years of service. The day of Edgar's retirement, he held a ceremony for his most faithful guard and friend. When he took the guard's insigna, he asked him to turn around and to look at his old companions. Each one of them held a familiar sword : a revised version of his great sword was in their hands. With it, no one would forget him, each having an eternal memento, and the king would remain well-protected.
