We have been seeing an increase in Anime showings in theatres across Canada and the US. Popular titles such as, Your Name, Sword Art Online, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z Battle of the Gods, and Resurrection F, have all made successful dabuts. Now joining this popular line-up is Studio Ponocs film, Mary and The Witches Flower! You will see this magical film showing in select theatres across the US on January 18th 2018. We found a website that lists the theatres that will be showing the film which you can get too by clicking here. Sadly there has been no talk about showing the film in Canadian Theatres. (If you know any better, please leave a comment with a link to the info so others can find a theatre near them)
Mary and The Witches Flower is brought to us by the Academy Award-nominated director Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who also directed Studio Ghibli’s, When Marnie Was There and The Secret World of Arrietty. He was also an animator on the classic masterpieces Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo and a few other popular titles.
The film is based off of a young adult novel called “The Little Broomstick”, which was published back in 1971. The story follows an everyday, normal girl who lives with her Great-Aunt in a small country town. With a very limited number of friends and little chance of adventures, Mary can't help but feel stuck and alone. Until one day when she decides to follow a strange cat into the foggy forest and finds a rare flower that only blooms once every seven years, along side an old broomstick. Together, the flower and broomstick whisk Mary above the clouds and to the Magical Collage, Endor.
When a Magical school has such dark secrets, all it takes is one seemingly small lie to change her life forever. Now Mary must risk her life to make things right, and bring everyone home safely.
We have added a trailer so you can see a little bit of this wonderful tail of magic and adventure!
In this short blog we will talk about the Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, or BOTW, DLC expansion packs and what they may contain. Both of the DLC packs are purchased as a pack in the Expansion Pass, despite the fact that the second DLC expansion won't be released until the Holiday season of this year (2017), as announced at E3 2017. The expansion Pass is sold in the Nintendo store and has an est. price of $29.99 CAD. There was a large number of exciting announcements at E3 but I am a huge Legend of Zelda fan so I have decided to start the discussion of the DLC content.
DLC Pack 1, not only offers some sweet new items for you to try out, but it opens some crazy new trials! The first trial to talk about is the "Trial of the Sword". This trial can be accessed in the Korok Forest by placing the Master Sword back in its pedestal, sort of like going back in time in Ocarina of Time. You have to make sure the sword is fully charged before starting the trial, however. After you complete the trial by beating all of the enemies in all 45 rooms of the trial, you will be greatly rewarded! You may think that 45 rooms is a lot to do in one go, but do not fret, you can actually abandon the trial and when you return, simply skip past the rooms you have already done. Although, as awesome as that is, you will lose everything you aquired from the trial every-time you return to complete it, because the trial strips you of all of your weapons and gear when you enter. The reward for completing this daunting task is a fully awakened Master Sword that stays in its fully powered up state when being used!
DLC 1 will also open Two new modes. Hard Mode, Which replaces most of the Red Bokoblins with Blue ones as well as making them more aware of their surroundings, that means its not as easy to get those sneak attacks in. There will also be a new level of enemies above the silver level....Gold Ranked enemies will be roaming the lands of Hyrule. With the level boost this mode gives to your enemies, combined with their regenerating health bars, you will need to be fast and agressive. P.S. you will want to keep your eyes on the skies when traveling through this unforgiving mode.
Then there is Hero's Path Mode. This Mode is slightly less intense compared to Hard Mode. This mode will show a path of your travels on the map screen, allowing you see where you have been in the last 200 hours of game play. You can also use the time tracker bar to see where you have spent the most time. Using this mode can really help you out by showing where you have yet to go. So you could say it is the exact opposite of hard mode....
When you get the expansion pass, you will unlock several new treasure chests throughout the land of Hyrule. One of these chests will contain an awesome new shirt showing off the new Nintendo Switch Logo which personally I think is pretty funny. One of the other chests will be holding a slightly more useful item called the travel medallion. You will be able to place this medallion anywhere on the map, making that spot a fast travel point without needing any shrines or towers.
Lets not forget about the awesome new armor you get with the expansion pass! As I've stated at the beginning of the blog, you will unlock several new treasure chests around the land. 8 of which contain new pieces of armor that are themed from other popular Legend Of Zelda Games. These include Midnas helmet from Twilight Princess, a replica of Majoras mask from...well Majoras mask...., Tingles outfit (Who you will find in several games), and a set of Phantom Armor! You will also be able to find a Korok mask that will assist you in finding the Koroks around Hyrule! So be sure to keep your eyes peeled for any clues that may help you discover these hidden treasures! The photos of the armor will be just below this blog so......you know...Spoiler alert....
The Second DLC that will be available during the Holiday season this year has yet to be spoiled (It's more fun that way anyways). However, what they have told us, is that we can expect a new Dungeon, several new challenges, as well as an "Original Story". I can't wait to immerse myself into this new story the way I have with every other Zelda story! What new adventures will it bring? And how will our timeless Hero overcome them? Become the Legend this holiday season and find out...

Lets talk about The Seven Deadly Sins!
This Netflix original animated series by Nakaba Suzuki seems to have some outstanding reviews! It is a "Shounen" anime (Shounen translates into "Young boy"). Which simply means that it was intended to catch the eye or young male viewers. However, that being said, this series has gotten a lot of feed back from a wide range of people that have different interests in Anime and Manga.
Despite all the different points of view, I have found that the large number of reviews have all been very positive, with very few people saying they would not recommend the series to anyone. I will post my thought on the series in this blog below for everyone to read, so please discuss this series with me, and comment your thoughts on this series!
The series does seem to have a pretty basic plot to it. The main protagonist needs help to save everyone and ends up running into another protagonist who just happens to have the same goal as her so they partner up and start their journey together. I still give this an above average because the series works with this story line very well and has some good twists to it.
I really enjoy every character from this series. Yes they also have some basic characteristics that are pretty common in anime but I personally really enjoyed it. I would have given a 10/10, but I feel that some of the characters, Such as Diane, could have been a little more intense. I didn't really like how easily she was beaten in the end. I understand the circumstances in that fight were not in her favor so she couldn't really go all out,and she was facing a very strong opponent, but I still think she could have had a little more action through out the first season.
I am not very artistic myself, but I really enjoy Japanese Anime art. I thought this series was really well animated in a modern style which makes sense considering when it was made). The art is very high quality and captures the action scenes very well! I enjoyed every fight they put in the series and think they couldn't have done a better job.
The sound for this was spot on. Even with my internet connection being pretty slow the sound was never off beat. They did a great job at getting the sounds and music to really pump me up for the fight scenes.
I really enjoyed this first season! In fact I have watched it three time now and have also started the second season. They only had the first four episodes though and it already shows more Fan-Service. Which I am ok with, Fan-Service has never bothered me and sometimes I think it adds the perfect amount of humor for the more "Adult" audience.
I would definitely recommend this series! I find it has a great combination of action, drama, suspense, and it really draws you in from episode one. I personally cannot wait for more of season two to come out!
